Black Country

"Long Winter" (video)

The last time Black Country (a.k.a. Joshua Richardson) shared a video with us, we got scenic shots of his home base Grey County, ON, covered in snow. Now Richardson is back with a clip for "Long Winter," which, ironically enough, takes us back to summer.

Also shot in Grey County and using the same slow-moving aesthetic, the new video shows off long grass and wildflowers blowing in the wind.

The track is a sad, slow-burning number that blends the twang of Richardson's folky voice with a female guest vocalist and slightly psychedelic instrumentation — demonstrating why he describes his music as "cosmic Americana."

"Long Winter" is slated to appear on Black Country's self-titled debut album, which is due out early next year. For now though, Exclaim.ca is happy to help you ward off the impending doom of winter with the first look at the new video.
