Björk has become the latest high-profile entertainer to speak out on sexual harassment, as the Icelandic musician made a Facebook post today (October 15) detailing her experience of being harassed by a Danish film director.
Björk doesn't identify the name of the perpetrator (although many in the Facebook comments have a guess), and she writes that the incident happened when she was doing an acting gig. She says that this form of of harassment was the "norm" and the the director had "a staff of dozens who enabled it and encouraged it." When she turned the director down, she was accused of being difficult to work with.
It's a grim portrayal of a toxic on-set environment, but the post nevertheless has an empowering tone: Björk writes that she is "inspired the women everywhere who are speaking up" and that "there is a wave of change in the world.
