Birds of Bellwoods Detail Debut Album 'Victoria'

BY Matt BobkinPublished Aug 24, 2017

Toronto folk-popsters Birds of Bellwoods have been slowly releasing information for their forthcoming full-length debut Victoria, and now they've fully lifted the curtain. The follow-up to 2015 EP The Fifth, Victoria will be self-released on October 20, and you can see the freshly revealed album art above.

In a statement, lead singer Stephen Joffe said about the album:

It's very difficult to sum up Victoria in a single thought. In a lot of ways, she is the combined weight of our lives so far. Years of love, fear, hope, and doubt, made into a celebration. I'm moving on. I love you. I'm getting older and I'm scared. Some of these songs started five years ago, some were created much later in the recording process. It was not easy, but it was a journey we took together. We don't want to give the game away, or tell you how to take it in. What we can say safely is that this is us. And we're finally ready for you to see us.

You may be able to hear some of the new tracks in Toronto tonight (August 24) at Cureapalooza, a fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society, where the band will be performing alongside Arkells. The band will also be officially launching the new record on September 23 at the Mod Club in Toronto.
