Billy Corgan Responds to Smashing Pumpkins Reunion Rumours

After sharing a video late last month in which he said to expect "big stuff" from the Smashing Pumpkins, bandleader Billy Corgan has now clarified talk of an original lineup reunion that sprang up in response.

As Alternative Nation points out, Corgan appeared on ESPN Nashville over the weekend, where he was asked by Josh Mathews about reunion plans. While not confirming any of the rumours, he didn't jump to immediately deny them.

"Pumpkins, we're making some interesting plans," he said. "It's kind of interesting, I did a Facebook post the other day and I literally said what I just said to you: 'now we're making some big plans,' and suddenly the next thing you know it's reunion rumours everywhere. I didn't say anything about any reunion. So, um, I don't know where that's coming from."

Corgan continued: "I just recorded a solo album, on the West Coast; sort of acoustic based. I'm not sure when that's coming out, and then obviously just pursuing this crazy dream of being involved in a wrestling company."

News of Corgan's solo record broke last month, marking his first time going it alone since the release of TheFutureEmbrace in 2005 through Reprise. Corgan also mentioned the start of a new band with current Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroede, which will also feature Jack Bates, Katie Cole, Sierra Swan, Linda Strawberry and others.
