Big Wreck

'Ghosts' (album stream)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 3, 2014

Big Wreck aren't so much reunited as they are in a totally new phase of their career, since the long-running Canadian group are preparing to release their second album since staging a comeback a few years back. Ghosts is out on June 10 via Anthem/Warner, and it's available to stream now on Exclaim.ca.

The 70-minute collection was co-produced by Big Wreck's own Ian Thornley, in addition to returning studio collaborators Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush) and Eric Ratz (Cancer Bats, Billy Talent).

In a statement, Thornley said, "The creative palette is a lot broader on this record, and sonically there's a lot more going on that I just haven't heard before."

It begins with the ultra-heavy riffs of seven-and-a-half-minute "A Place to Call Home," while "I Digress" shifts from riff-mongering to a sunny chorus, "My Life" has a cabaret piano pulse, and the second half of the album has a number of acoustic rockers.

Hear it all below and pre-order it over on iTunes.

UPDATE: This stream was available for one week only and is no longer available.
