Published Jul 20, 2012Big Boi previously promised that his next album, Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors, would be out on November 13. And although the Outkast rapper has previously had a tendency to delay his albums, so far he appears to be staying on schedule. He recently hosted a preview listening party and revealed some of the guests who will likely appear on the collection.
The listening session took place on Thursday (July 19) in Manhattan, where Big Boi played a few rough cuts from the album for those on hand. Billboard reports that the sessions include three songs with Phantogram singer Sarah Barthel (including one called "CPU"), plus tunes with Kid Cudi (upcoming single "She Hate Me"), Little Dragon ("Mama Told Me"), A$AP Rocky and Organized Noize ("Lines"), and Big K.R.I.T. and Bun B (the already released "Gossip" -- listen below).
Big Boi confirmed that he had recorded some "bangers" with Modest Mouse's Isaac Brock, but these songs "might not fit" with this project. All told, there are around 30 tracks in the running for the new album, which he needs to complete by September. However, he expects to be done the album by mid-August.
The songs on the album reportedly vary from intricate synth pop to electro-funk to more reflective material.
Big Boi also confirmed that Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors is still scheduled to drop on November 13.
