Big Boi Once Again Gets Our Hopes up for New Outkast Material

BY Josiah HughesPublished Dec 8, 2009

Around this time last year, we were getting excited about Big Boi and his and Andre 3000's Outkast. In an interview with MTV, Big Boi said that 2009 would see three albums from the Outkast camp - his solo album, a solo album from Andre 3000, and a new Outkast record. Now, as we look toward 2010 with no new releases in our pocket, Big Boi has made a near-identical statement.

Speaking with Billboard, the Atlanta, GA rapper said that his solo album, Sir Luscious Left Foot... Son of Chico Dusty, will be out at the start of 2010, with the other two aforementioned albums to follow.

"This is all in the next year or so," Big Boi said. "Starting with my album coming at the top of the year, Dre 3000 right after me... and when the solo albums come out, depending on how the fans support them, then we're gonna give them the Outkast album."

He also addressed the insane amount of delays on Sir Lucious Left Foot, saying, "There's been a lot of stops and stars with this project. I've just been trying to make sure we've got the right avenues and the right brains and mindsets together to get the marketing and promoting behind it. When you work on something for, like, two years and 11 months, it's like your baby. You want to make sure that everybody has taken the project the way they're supposed to be taking it and the set-up is right."

A track from the album, "Royal Flush," featuring Andre 3000 and Raekwon, can be streamed below. However, as of right now, Sir Luscious Left Foot... Son of Chico Dusty does not have a firm release date. In other words, we're not going to hold our breath for any new Outkast albums just yet. We've already been burned once.
