Beyoncé

'4' (album stream)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jun 23, 2011

Here's a fact about Beyoncé that may come as a surprise to some: she's only 29 years old. She was just a teenager when she rose to fame as a member of Destiny's Child, and since then she's made forays into film, clothing lines and, well, being married to Jay-Z. Of course, she's also had massive success as a solo artist, and on Tuesday (June 28), Columbia will release her fourth album. But if you're itching to listen to the album right now, it's streaming in Click Hear for our Canadian readers.

Fittingly titled 4, the album was recorded over a year, from spring 2009 to spring 2010. During that time, Beyoncé took some time away from the public eye and crafted what a press release describes as "a mixed musical gumbo."

She's already unveiled a pair of singles from 4: piano power ballad "Best Thing I Never Had" and electro banger "Run the World (Girls)." These tracks were chosen from a reported 72 songs that Beyoncé and her collaborators wrote for the album.

The 12 songs that eventually made the cut feature contributions from Kanye West, The-Dream, Major Lazer, Tricky, Babyface, OFWGKTA's Frank Ocean and many more. Still, we can't help but be a little disappointed that the discussed songs with Of Montreal and Sleigh Bells don't appear here.

You can listen to Beyoncé and her collaborators below, as we have 4 streaming here in Canada on Exclaim.ca.

UPDATE: Due to technical problems, the label has been forced to pull this album stream. We'll have it back up as soon as those problems are ironed out and we are sent a new player.
