Beyoncé Speaks Out Against Police Brutality and Racial Profiling in Heartfelt Open Letter
It's been a particularly awful week with regards to racism and police brutality in the United States after Alton Sterling and Philando Castile were murdered by police despite their quiet cooperation. The racially charged killings have sparked both thoughtful and thoughtless responses from celebrities. Now, Beyoncé has shared a heartfelt statement.

Writing on her official website, Beyoncé did not beat around the bush in her condemnation of violent, unhinged police officers in America. "We don't need sympathy," she wrote. "We need everyone to protect our lives."

She added, "This is a human fight. No matter your race, gender or sexual orientation. This is a fight for anyone who feels marginalized, who is struggling for freedom and human rights."

She concluded the piece by offering links for Americans to contact their local member of congress and to voice their protest against the killings of Sterling and Castile.
