Published Mar 03, 2010If you actively use the Internet to find out about new music, you've likely heard of Best Coast by now. The project, which is helmed by former Pocahaunted noisemaker Bethany Cosentino and her sidekick Bobb Bruno, have been gaining a wealth of attention for the summery, sultry lo-fi pop anthems found on a plethora of recent singles. With all this blog support behind them, it's time for Best Coast to deliver on the hype with their debut full-length album.
While the album still doesn't have a set-in-stone release date, we do know that the raw tracks were recorded in January, that the album will contain all new material and that it will be out in the second half of 2010. At a recent live set in Vancouver, we heard some of the new tracks and described them as "punkish" and "catchy."
Long before the as-yet-untitled album sees the light of day, however, there's plenty more activity from Best Coast to report on. For starters, there's a new Best Coast seven-inch available from Post Present Medium. The first pressing of the record sold out of 1,000 copies in a matter of weeks, but it's currently being pressed as an additional run of 500 copies. If you'd like one, keep an eye on the PPM store.
Best Coast also have a flurry of tour dates on the way. Besides a four-day stint at SXSW, the group will travel across North America with their laid-back anthems, eventually making their way to Canada for shows in Montreal and Toronto.
