Best Buy to Sell Vinyl Records

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jul 9, 2008

In an effort to keep up with those hip, vinyl-loving kids today, gigantic entertainment retailer Best Buy has announced plans to start carrying vinyl records amongst their stacks of seven-dollar romantic comedies and 20th Century Masters Millennium Collection CDs. To test out the product, they will be releasing vinyl copies of new albums at various undisclosed locations.

"We've got an executive here who's basically responding to his own children and is sponsoring a test to see if there's a market," Best Buy CEO Brad told the Star Tribune. "As an old vinyl collector, this is close to my heart."

Still, if Record Store Day taught us anything, it’s that we need our mom and pop record stores like we need teachers, doctors, and music journalists. So keep that in mind when Best Buy is offering you new vinyl five bucks cheaper next year!
