Ben Rogers

'The Bloodred Yonder' (album stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Aug 7, 2015

Vancouver folk troubadour Ben Rogers will release his latest album The Bloodred Yonder next week, but before the album lands, Exclaim! is giving you an exclusive early listen.

We've already heard album opener "Wild Roses" and seen the video for "Panhandler," but now the album is streaming in its entirety — and it's chockfull of more twangy, rockabilly-tinged numbers and brooding country ballads.

A modern musical cowboy, Rogers tells honkytonk tales of living life on the run ("Wanted"), sings sweet somber ballads about losing love ("Goodbye Rosa Lee," "Living Without You") and delivers ditties about picking up dog shit ("The More I Learn").

The record keeps things in the family, with his brother Matt Rogers (the Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer) serving as producer. He also enlisted the help of fellow musicians like Matt Kelly (City and Colour), Erik Nielsen (Rich Hope), John Sponarski (Portage and Main) and Leon Power (Frazey Ford).

The Bloodred Yonder is officially out on August 14 through Tonic Records, but you can scroll past Rogers' upcoming shows to give it a spin a week early.
