Ben Gibbard Announces North American Solo Tour

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Aug 14, 2012

Having conquered sad sacks' ears and hearts since the late '90s with Death Cab For Cutie, Ben Gibbard is now looking to expand his sonic portfolio this year with his upcoming Former Lives solo effort. About the time he announced the album, which drops October 16 through Barsuk, it was revealed he would be heading out on the road for a quick trip this fall. Those dates have now been confirmed.

Gibbard's tour schedule starts off sporadically, with a gig booked in California in September and a lone Canadian stop lined up at Toronto's Danforth Music Hall on October 14. The baseball fan fully gets into the swing of things in November for a two-week, ten-date trip around the U.S. He'll be joined on certain dates by Casiotone for the Painfully Alone offshoot Advance Base and by singer-songwriter Damien Jurado. You can check all the details down below.

A press release notes that dates around the Pacific Northwest will be announced in the near future, so keep your fingers crossed, BC fans, that he'll hop the line into Vancouver. Or, at the very least, head to his one-time home base of nearby Bellingham, WA.

A tracklisting has not yet been made available for Former Lives, but you can hear the recently tweeted non-album track "Ichiro's Theme" down below.
