Ben Folds Five Enter Studio, Plot Spring Release for New LP

Last year, Ben Folds Five reunited for a handful of compilation songs and even hinted that a new album might be on the way. Evidently, the glow from their initial reunion hasn't worn off, since the group are currently in the studio working on their fourth full-length.

As Spin points out, frontman Folds tweeted yesterday afternoon (January 25), "It's happening fo sho - Day 1 in studio with Robert and Darren through March #NewBenFoldsFiveRecord."

He added in a subsequent tweet, "Spring release," which sounds entirely plausible if the trio will be plugging away in the studio for the next couple of months.

Ben Folds Five haven't released an album since 1999's The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner. They originally broke up in 2000. Folds has since released a number of solo records, but arguably none of them have quite captured the piano-pounding, fuzz bass-rocking, harmony-laden magic of the Five.
