Ben Caplan and the Casual Smokers Embark on Canadian Tour

BY Alex HudsonPublished Nov 10, 2011

With his album In the Time of the Great Remembering available now, Halifax songwriter Ben Caplan is getting ready to take his band the Casual Smokers and his impressive beard on a Canadian tour.

The outing is already underway, and it will find Caplan and co. playing shows in New Brunswick and Ontario, with additional stops in Quebec and Nova Scotia. The bulk of the dates are with Montreal songstress Charlotte Cornfield.

Along the way, Caplan and the Casual Smokers will be promoting their rootsy, klezmer-tinged debut LP. In a statement, Caplan said, "Halifax is my home but there's something really special about taking In the Time of the Great Remembering on the road again, and I'm excited to have the opportunity to play these songs to audiences I don't see quite as often. I've spent the last three months on the road promoting this record and it's been a really wonderful experience."

These Canadian dates come after Caplan's recent European tour. See the upcoming schedule below.
