After a decade and a half together, the BellRays have produced their strongest record to date. Have a Little Faith is simultaneously the band’s most far-reaching disc and their most cohesive. The group have always drawn from a wide range of influences to fashion a maximum rock and soul sound and here those diverse tastes are expertly distilled into the band’s greatest concoction. With horns and keyboards augmenting both the group’s dexterous musicians and Lisa Kekaula’s powerful voice, the album features numerous sophisticated arrangements. The title track features gentle, layered melodies that recall Curtis Mayfield while "Change the World” rages like a hurricane gathering energy over the ocean. Linking the varied tunes together are uniformly muscular songwriting, playing and singing. Throughout its wide musical scope, Have a Little Faith offers reliably compelling listening.
