Belle and Sebastian's Stevie Jackson Unveils Solo Album, Gets Members of Pastels and New Pornographers to Guest

BY Alex HudsonPublished Sep 28, 2011

Over the years, Belle and Sebastian guitarist Stevie Jackson has taken over frontman duties on several songs, including "Jonathan David," "Seymour Stein," "To Be Myself Completely" and more. Now, the sideman has unveiled a solo album, the awesomely titled (I Can't Get No) Stevie Jackson.

In an email to fans, the songwriter revealed that mastering only finished last week, but the album is already available digitally from Banchory. You can also pre-order a copy on CD or LP. These hard copies will be officially available on October 24.

Jackson explained that these 12 songs were written and recorded intermittently as far back as 2006, with sessions taking place in Glasgow and Vancouver. Among the guests who appear on the album are the New Pornographers' Kurt Dahle and John Collins, the Pastels' Katrina Mitchell, and various members of Belle and Sebastian (although not, it appears, frontman Stuart Murdoch).

Jackson wrote additional commentary about each track on his official website. He's also booked a European solo tour, so check out the dates here.
