Belle and Sebastian shared a snippet of new material with the release of recent single "We Were Beautiful," and now the Scottish twee-popsters have unveiled plans for a trilogy of new EPs.
Titled How to Solve Our Human Problems, the three-part collection will arrive over the coming months. Part 1 lands on December 8, followed by Part 2 on January 19 and, finally, Part 3 is due out on February 16. These will also come out on vinyl and digitally.
A compilation CD and vinyl box set featuring all three EPs will also arrive on February 19. If you already bought previous EPs on vinyl, you can also just pick up the box separately to make the complete vinyl set.
The set mimics the band's 1997 trilogy featuring Dog on Wheels, Lazy Line Painter Jane and 3.. 6.. 9 Seconds of Light.
The new EPs were primarily recorded at the band's homes in Glasgow, with members contributing to production duties, alongside friends and other collaborators.
Aforementioned single "We Were Beautiful" appears on How to Solve Our Human Problems Part 1, while a freshly unveiled track called "I'll Be Your Pilot" is taken from the second instalment. As frontman Stuart Murdoch explains, the latest song was inspired by his young son.
"Having your first kid is a huge event, so I wrapped a lot of things I felt about Denny into the song," he said in a press release. "Being a dad made me feel a little like the pilot in The Little Prince, hence all the references to the Sahara!"
