Morrissey is normally the king of seething political rants against world leaders, but Stars frontman Torquil Campbell has been giving Moz a run for his money today (December 6). Over on Twitter, Campbell has posted a series of tweets targeting Canadian leader Stephen Harper and U.S. President Barack Obama.

The tweets began after South African freedom fighter Nelson Mandela passed away yesterday (December 5). The singer wrote, "very hard not to feel angry when you see people who have acted in total opposition to mandelas' beliefs now lionizing him. very, very hard."

He has since gone on to attack the prime minister, writing "@pmharper you've spent your life praising people like rob ford. so if you had any real respect for mandela, you would keep your mouth shut."

Subsequent tweets have called Harper a "pig" and a "fucker," blasted "all the racists in [his] caucus," and referred to "the venal scum you made money for."

Perhaps the harshest words of all came when Campbell wrote, "@pmharper there will be no tears, or poems, or ceremonies. your death will only remind us of the darkest period of this countrys' history," and "@pmharper stephen harper: he destroyed a country, raped an environment, lied to his people, and played shitty elton john covers. #obituary."

He also aimed a few messages at Obama, suggesting that he honour Mandela's legacy by closing Guantanamo Bay, ceasing drone attacks and "getting out of bed with bankers and governing according to your supposed principles."

It doesn't seem that Campbell is through with his lambasting, but read some of the notable tweets so far below.
