Published Apr 05, 2011Though Public Enemy hypeman Flavor Flav only recently opened a fried chicken restaurant called, what else, Flavor Flav's Chicken, it's employees are already calling foul, claiming that their paycheques have bounced.
Iowa's WQAD television reports that workers at Flav's Clinton, IA restaurant, which opened this past January, have not been able to claim their paycheques, with banks saying the funds are unavailable. Ex-employees Kelly Butler and Kim Kostka have come forward, saying they are owed three weeks' pay from restaurant owner Nick Cimino.
"My cheque was only $150 and they couldn't even cash it," Butler told the station, adding that several banks had turned down the cheque.
Flavor Flav, meanwhile, says not to believe the hype: Flavor Flav's Chicken is doing just fine.
"It's not true information, first of all, and second of all maybe these are people that's just jealous of me being here and probably want to see me out," the hip-hop star told WQAD. "Yes, we do have money in our accounts."
Cimino claimed that the complaints are coming from disgruntled ex-workers that were let go by the company. "Employees are going to say whatever they need to say, especially after you fire them," he said.
