BEDlight for BlueEYES

The Dawn

BY Jasamine White-GluzPublished Nov 1, 2005

If the band’s bio is any indication, BEDlight for BlueEYES may be getting a little ahead of themselves. Claiming to be the rebirth of rock’n’roll is a little presumptuous, as is proclaiming an alleged Motown soul influence on a run-of-the-mill emo record. BEDlight can be categorised with other innovative emo bands like Coheed and Cambria and My Chemical Romance, but this album is far from groundbreaking. Vocals are indeed impressive, even if they are ridiculously poppy at times. Sure, alongside some other records in the same genre that were released this year, The Dawn is impressive. However, this album is nowhere as good as they think it is.
