Beck

"Colors" (slime video)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Oct 15, 2017

Veteran sonic shapeshifter (and current Exclaim! cover star) Beck is in a very crowd-pleasing mood these days. His newly released album Colors embraces the sparkling sounds of radio-friendly pop, and now the LP's title cut has been treated to a video that borrows from the social media trend of close-up videos of people playing with slime.

The clip, which is being called a "slime visualizer," lives up the song's title by showing people running their hands through many different colours of ooey-gooey slime. It's strangely satisfying to see people squishing the slime, and the quick camerawork complements the song's joyous energy.

The track is one of many upbeat bangers on Colors. It features a thumping beat, pitch-shifted vocals in the chorus, and synthesized pan flute that recalls Justin Bieber's "What Do You Mean?"
