Published Feb 25, 2011Last year, forward-thinking electro pop duo Beat Connection released a rough version of a mini-album called Surf Noir via their Bandcamp. Now, the collection has been given some proper mastering and five of the songs have been reworked, with the release now officially coming out via Tender Age/Moshi Moshi. It's not out until April 12, but the band are hyping it up with a video for the standout track "Silver Screen."
The video, which is directed by Dumb Eyes, is a dreamy wash of flickering images and psychedelic swirls of colour. It's trippy stuff, mixing kaleidoscopic effects with retro-looking clips of the musicians walking around a Pacific rainforest wearing basketball jackets. It's the perfect accompaniment for the song, which is a '80s-tinged electro pop tune with hazed-out keyboards and reverb-swathed vocals.
Beat Connection have a number of U.S. and UK tour dates coming up in the next few months, including an appearance at SXSW. See the dates over at MySpace and enjoy that video below.
