Published Apr 29, 2013The surviving members of the Beastie Boys have signed a publishing deal and are currently working on piecing together a memoir.
Michael Diamond and Adam Horovitz, perhaps better known as Mike D and Ad-Rock, inked a deal with Random House imprint Spiegel and Grau to produce a book chronicling the group's career. The publisher was also behind Jay-Z's innovative 2010 memoir Decoded.
According to the New York Times, the Beasties' book will break from convention and instead feature "a pastiche of voices, images, irreverent humor and pop-culture reference points."
Though the title won't be announced until later this week, the book is due for release in fall 2015. Hip-hop writer Sacha Jenkins will be authoring the collection, but it will contain contributions from other writers, as well as strong visuals.
This weekend will mark the one year anniversary of third Beastie Boy Adam Yauch's death. Yauch (aka MCA) passed away on May 4 last year, after battling cancer.
