Published Oct 25, 2010Last week, we reported that the Beastie Boys' long-awaited new album would finally see the light of day, though not as originally anticipated. Instead of the initial plan of releasing Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1, which was once scheduled for September 2009, the New York trio were heading straight to Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2, now set for release next spring. Well, more details have surfaced for Pt. 2, and it actually seems like the second set isn't that different from Pt. 1.
A statement from mic checker MCA explains that even though the Beastie Boys recorded a whole album's worth of new material for Pt. 2, they ended up picking the bulk of their upcoming set from Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1's sessions. It's a little unorthodox, but we'll let the rap legends slide on this one.
"Strange but true, the final sequence for Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2 works best with all its songs replaced by the 16 tracks we originally had lined up in pretty much the same order we had them in for Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1. So we've come full circle," he said.
It's a little baffling for sure, but let's just forget the convoluted mix-up and concentrate on the fact that the new Beastie Boys album, at least for the time being, is set to go. However, it's still without a firm release date.
