Published Mar 14, 2011The Beastie Boys' Hot Sauce Committee project has seen its share of setbacks over the past couple of years. Initially, the set was supposed to drop in September of 2009, but the group were forced to postpone once Adam Yauch (aka MCA) was diagnosed with cancer. Fast-forward a year and the group were again ready to drop the disc, but pulled the plug this time to retool the tracks for another version of the record, titled Hot Sauce Committee Part Two. Along the way, the group have also ventured into the wide world of wine blogs and made a short film, but we've been keeping our fingers crossed for the long-delayed album to finally make its debut. Having just released its album art and set another date, it looks as if the band are finally ready to release this thing.
A message on the band's website from MCA sheds more light on the disc, which is now primed for a May release.
"Since the dawn of time, and perhaps even before, there was a silent order who were tasked with a mission. They held their secret tightly," he said on the site. "On may 3rd the HOT SAUCE COMMITTEE PART TWO will be unleashed on the general public. Hold fast ye heathens."
Mike D's follow-up statement of "MAY THREE , Y'all" is a little more direct and kind of redundant, but the self-proclaimed "ladies choice" did dish up the album's geometric artwork, which gives off a neon price-code vibe.
We've had release dates for this album before, but, hopefully, this time it's for real, with Hot Sauce Committee Part Two being released May 3 on Capitol.
