Published Feb 15, 2011Following word of Jim James and M. Ward's crème brûlée blog, more of our favourite musicians are stepping out as foodies. The latest is Beastie Boys rapper Mike D, who has revealed his very own wine-tasting blog.
As The Daily Swarm points out, the MC is sipping on wine and blogging about it over at wine critic James Suckling's new site. D has only posted one review so far, but it's definitely the perfect blend of wine talk and music referencing you'd expect.
The review reads:
(NEW YORK) I had a half bottle of 2006 Jean-Marc Morey Santenay La Comme Dessus last week at Momofuku Ssam Bar here in New York during a late and delicious lunch break from the studio. We are putting the finishing touches on a new album. Fortunately, we have been working closely with our esteemed colleague Mr. Zdar, so we have been sticking to his French work ethic of strong coffee and lengthy sit-down lunches.
The red Burgundy was really good actually, especially when you don't expect much out of a restaurant half bottle. I can't say the spicy cuisine did the wine any favors. But still, after properly cleansing the palate, this was surprisingly ready to rock -- ripe fruits, earthy notes, even a little bit of refined funk. Elegant and restrained with well-balanced tension. 93 points.
Crack a bottle of red and add D's blog to your RSS reader so that you too can learn to drink like your rap idols.
As previously reported, the Beastie Boys' long-awaited Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2 is expected in stores this spring.
