BBC Looking To Host Britpop Themed Episode of The Weakest Link

According to sources at the BBC, the network is currently in talks with members of Blur and Oasis, among others, about starring in a Britpop episode of The Weakest Link. Yes, really!

The Daily Star is reporting that TV bosses have approached Oasis' Gallagher brothers, Blur's Damon Albarn and Alex James, Pulp's Jarvis Cocker, Elastica's Justine Frischmann, Suede's Brett Anderson, Manic Street Preachers' James Dean Bradfield and Shed Seven's Rick Witter to appear on the special, but no contestants have been confirmed as of yet.

A spokesperson from the BBC told the tabloid: "If we can pull this off it would be unbelievable. It's been over a decade since this lot have ever been in the same room as each other."

So far the press has played up the possible rekindling of the Blur Vs. Oasis feud that helped initiate the mid-'90s Britpop craze. The insider went on to add: "To see them lined up next to one another with Queen of Mean Anne Robinson giving them stick would be amazing. It's sure to ignite old rivalries, which would be TV gold. Noel admits he's a Weakest Link fan."
