Bass Lions

"We Got Guts"

BY Alex HudsonPublished Oct 8, 2014

Here is Bass Lions' self-description from their Facebook page: "bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass bass." Given this apparently single-minded outlook, "We Got Guts" has a more diverse soundscape than new listeners might expect.

The track, which comes from the Ontario outfit's upcoming self-titled effort, is a frantic indie rock number with a fast-moving arrangement of acoustic strums, echoing electric guitar textures and rapid-fire rhythms. It's quick and eclectic and showcases a whole lot more than "bass bass bass…"
