Basia Bulat Returns with 'Tall Tall Shadow,' Lines Up North American Tour

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 23, 2013

It's been over three years since Basia Bulat delivered her much-praised Heart of My Own LP, but the Canadian folk favourite has finally announced she'll set us up with a new album this fall. Titled Tall Tall Shadow, it arrives October 1 via Secret City Records, and a day earlier overseas.

The record, Bulat's third full-length overall, was co-produced with engineer Mark Lawson (Arcade Fire, Colin Stetson, Timber Timbre) and Arcade Fire's Tim Kingsbury, and apparently has Bulat exploring sounds outside of her rootsy comfort zone.

"This time around I felt braver," she said in a statement, adding, "I wanted to play with electric and electronic sounds, exploring the boundaries of the folk music some people know me for."

You can check out a stream of the organ-driven title track down below.

Bulat has a pair of shows coming up in August, but fully hits the road in support of Tall Tall Shadow on the record's release date. The North American trip bounces across both sides of the U.S./Canada border between October and December, and you can catch all the details down below.
