Barcelona

TransHuman Revolution

BY Ian DanzigPublished Nov 1, 2001

Trevor Kampmann, aka Holland, has produced another winner for his burgeoning pulCec label. Barcelona's third full-length album benefits immensely from Holland's continued contributions to the band. On TransHuman Revolution, Barcelona sounds like the band Kampmann would corral for his own recordings. Like Holland, Barcelona takes electro pop to new hook-filled heights, but with more guitar and far fewer beats. Simple, intoxicating melodies with new wave and Casio-tone influences groove with a succinct punch and dead on hooks that are crisp, concise and crafted to near perfection.
