Baptists Return with 'Beacon of Faith,' Share New Song

Four years on from sharing their Bloodmines LP, Vancouver's Baptists have announced a follow-up effort. Titled Beacon of Faith, the band's latest will arrive May 25 through Southern Lord.

Thirteen tracks in length, Beacon of Faith was recorded by Converge's Kurt Ballou in Salem, MA, in July of last year, with Brad Boatright at Portland's Audiosiege handling mastering. The album is said to be "a sonic manifestation of desolate rage, bolstered by a palpable sense of urgency."

Lyrically, the record apparently draws on the four-piece's "direct experience of a broken society and general discontentment with everyday life," hitting out at substance abuse, mental health, the Canadian court system and (as guitarist Danny Marshall puts it) how the more fortunate "tend to dismiss people who have been dealt a less-fortunate hand."

The announcement comes alongside new track "Capsule," which you can hear in the player below. Baptists joined All Pigs Must Die on a West Coast tour last month.

Beacon of Faith:

1. Worse Than Hate

6. Outbreeding
