The Banshee

Public Talks

BY Liz WorthPublished Apr 26, 2008

This is perfectly punked up pop; it drips honey while it whips around in frantic, snivelling circles. Instantly catchy and irresistible, Italy’s the Banshee have the right amount of up-all-night, up-all-day energy, consistently delivering undeniable hooks. Each track has the staying power to get stuck in your head like a wad of gum under a table, and there’s plenty of bubblegum flavour here to go around. The Banshee hit the ground running with a repertoire that sounds like it’s giving a nod or two in the direction of the Buzzcocks and the Jam, and would be a great fit for fans of the Briefs. Public Talks is utterly flawless from beginning to end, making this debut one not to be missed.
