Band of Horses to Release Third Album in May, Plan Spring North American Tour

BY Alex HudsonPublished Mar 3, 2010

After releasing their first two albums in rapid succession, Band of Horses have taken three years to issue a follow-up to 2007's Cease to Begin. Now, the album finally has a title and release date, as Infinite Arms will hit stores on May 18.

Like both the band's previous efforts, Infinite Arms was produced by Phil Ek, but this marks the first time all five current members of Band of Horses have contributed to the recording process, as Paste notes that Tyler Ramsey and Bill Reynolds were previously only touring members. This caused front-man Ben Bidwell to tell Pitchfork, "In many ways, this is the first Band of Horses record."

The band haven't yet revealed which label will release the disc, but it seems most likely that they will be sticking with Sub Pop (who released their first two albums). After all, Ek is Sub Pop's go-to guy, and his other credits include the Dodos, Fleet Foxes and the Shins.

Band of Horses have a lengthy spring tour planned, but so far the only Canadian date is their already-announced appearance at the Toronto Island Concert (a line-up that also includes Pavement, Broken Social Scene and Beach House, among others).
