Published Nov 21, 2017Continuing to show off their collaborative spirit, BADBADNOTGOOD have unloaded a new video for their track "Cashmere," which has now been entirely transformed thanks to added guest Flockey Ocscor.
The song appeared on the group's most recent album IV as a laid-back instrumental, but in its new video form, it's an entirely different beast thanks to Congolese dancer and artist Flockey Ocscor.
Here's how a press release explains how this latest visual creation came together:
Residing in Düsseldorf, Germany, the Congolese dancer and artist used BBNG's "Cashmere" in a live performance and later reached out to the Canadian jazz quartet about making a full-length video. The group immediately agreed and the resulting video is a moving portrait of a romance interrupted by the violence and political turmoil that has defined the Democratic Republic of Congo since civil war first broke out there over 30 years ago.
You can see the results for yourself down below.
"It's a very raw, emotional performance, which is totally enrapturing," BBNG bassist Chester Hansen told Playboy, which premiered the video. "To see the song completely change contexts when used in that way was very inspiring for us."
Ocscor added, "I was born and raised in Germany, but my parents escaped the civil war back then. That was about 30 years ago and it's still going on."
