Baby Eagle

'Bone Soldiers' (album stream)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Feb 27, 2012

Seeing as we're not likely to hear a new album from the now-defunct Constantines anytime soon, you may want to indulge yourself in guitarist Steve Lambke's new album from Baby Eagle & the Proud Mothers. Entitled Bone Soldiers, you can stream the whole thing here on Exclaim.ca before it's released on March 6 through You've Changed Records.

So who are the Proud Mothers you ask? Well, Lambke's backing band features Will Kidman of Constantines, Ian Kehoe and Spencer Burton of Attack in Black, and Nick Ferrio. He gathered these talented folks at Toronto's 6 Nassau studio with recording whiz Jeff McMurrich (Owen Pallett, John K. Samson) to lay down Bone Soldiers.

According to a press release, the ten songs match "raw sounds with disarmingly honest lyrics," resulting in "a dark and ragged document that smiles equally on Cormac McCarthy and Neil Young's Re-ac-tor." Hear it for yourself, listen to Bone Soldiers below.

As previously reported, Baby Eagle & the Proud Mothers will be hitting the road in Canada this spring. See the dates here.
