Babe Rainbow

'One Morning' (beat tape)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Aug 1, 2012

A few months back, Canadian electro whiz Babe Rainbow released a beat tape EP with a hilariously bad album cover, and now he's done it again by posting the four-song collection One Morning.

Babe Rainbow mastermind Cameron Reed explained the genesis of the EP with the following brief description on SoundCloud: "This little 4-song EP is a collection of one-off demo beats I made during the morning of August 1st, 2012. I had two cups of Earl Grey and a bowl of cereal. Samples include Ray Lynch, Delta 5, Young Marble Giants, and This Heat."

Listen to the low-key collection below. It's entirely instrumental and consists mostly of head-nodding beats overlaid with a few sparse samples. The genre is listed as "hip-hop or whatever," which seems as good a description as any.
