Published Sep 30, 2015Ontario's B & Steve made a viral sensation a couple of years ago with the dorky Can-rap anthem "Out for a Rip" (which was released through B.Rich's project Shark Tank). Now, with the Blue Jays having secured their playoff spot and being on the verge of clinching their division, B & Steve are cheering on the local boys with "Home Run Anthem."
The party-starting rap track is designed for devoted Jays followers, since it's filled with team-specific references to the Jays' power-hitting prowess and Pennant wins in 1992 and 1993. In the clip, BRich (a.k.a. Brendan Richmond) and Steve (a.k.a. Eli Abrams) cruise around town while wearing Jays gear and they party it up with fans outside of Rogers Centre. There's even a cameo from onetime Jays great Kelly Gruber.
B & Steve recorded the song in Kingston and Toronto. They said in a statement:
We're offering up this deadly friggin' track to the gods of baseball and winning... We figured if someone didn't drop a Jays anthem pronto, before you could say "touch em all, Joe", there'd be a whole album of Blue Jays themed T.Swift covers all up in your newsfeed. We are admittedly two of the biggest T.Swift fans you'll ever meet, but when it comes to gettin' pumped about ball, you need a friggin' stadium banger.... so here it is. crank it.
