As far as jokey numbers about Nintendos, pirates and broken-heartedness go, Hamilton, ON troubadour B.A. Johnston has got the market on lock, and he'll return with more song-based wackiness next month on his next full-length, Hi Dudes!
The singer-songwriter's next set -- his eighth overall and first for the Mammoth Cave imprint -- will arrive on February 21. As can be expected, the goofball's latest platter features "songs about arcades, romance gone down the toilet, and living in a dirtbag town filled with dirtbags nestled among observations of nostalgia and failure." Some of the juicier titles include "Douchestorm" and "Dirtbag Beach."
The 14-song Hi Dudes! was recorded with Paul Linklater (Dave Bidini, the Pinecones) and Stephen MacLeod (Windom Earle). "Truffle Shuffle," an acoustic tribute to Chunk and the rest of the Goonies crew featuring guest vocalist Laura Barrett, is available for streaming down below.
Johnston will be taking his tunes out west late next month, kicking off a tour February 25 with a hometown gig at This Ain't Hollywood. You can see the full schedule below.
