Azealia Banks Trashes Disclosure Collaboration After "Rude" Interview

BY Josiah HughesPublished Sep 30, 2013

Though she's yet to release her constantly delayed debut LP Broke with Expensive Taste, rapper Azealia Banks has found plenty to talk about. Earlier this year, she hyped up an appearance by house duo Disclosure, saying that they'd had the "greatest studio session EVAR." The group downplayed the collaboration in a follow-up interview. Now, because of that, she's scrapped the song.

Speaking with AU Review [via FACT], Banks said she was ditching the collaboration. "I did something with Disclosure but they were, like, really rude in an interview, so I canned it."

She added, "I might leak it, though. And to be honest, I've got better stuff on my record... It can be an f-side. A fuck-you side."

For what it's worth, here's the "rude" quote from Disclosure, as told to 3VOOR12 [via Pitchfork]: "We don't have a song with her yet. We've met her once.... I think she's kind of taken to Twitter quite heavily with the fact that she's meeting with us. And people now think that we've made the greatest song of all time, and it doesn't even actually have a chorus yet."

Banks's Broke with Expensive Taste still doesn't have a proper release date. While we wait, however, she has added that her upcoming Fantasea II mixtape will now be released as a proper album as well.
