If you think you had an eventful weekend, think again. It probably didn't top that of Azealia Banks' or Russell Crowe's, whose worlds bizarrely collided at a hotel party on Saturday night (October 15).
Crowe hosted a small dinner party at a Beverly Hills hotel, with a guestlist that included his The Man with the Iron Fists director RZA. The hip-hop legend apparently inked a deal with Azealia Banks recently and brought the young rapper along as his guest.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the combination of the infamous tweeter and phone-throwing Hollywood actor took a dramatic turn. Banks allegedly disparaged Crowe's choice of music, then referred to him and another guest as "boring white men."
According to TMZ, another attendee defended the host, setting Banks off into a rant that heard N-words tossed around before she said, "You would love it if I broke my glass, stabbed you guys in the throat, and blood would squirt everywhere like some real Tarantino shit."
Crowe apparently remained calm throughout the incident until Banks cocked her glass back — at which point he carried her out of the suite and called security.
In a Facebook post that has since been deleted, Banks summarized her night, writing: "To recap my night, I went to a party at Russell Crowe's suite, at which he called me a nigger, choked me, threw me out and spat at me. Last night was one of the hardest nights of sleep I've had in a long time. The men in the room allowed it to happen. I feel terrible today."
TMZ is reporting that four guests gave witness statements once the authorities arrived, each one describing Banks' behaviour as "erratic." They also note that the other guests, including RZA, clarified that it was Banks (not Crowe) using the N-word during the incident.
In a more recent Facebook post, Banks vaguely announced, "I have receipts. Stay tuned."
