Axl Rose Tells Us "Dog's Lives Matter" Following Pit Bull Shooting

BY Brock ThiessenPublished Oct 10, 2016

While the pit bull debate got more than a little heated in Montreal recently, Guns N' Roses and AC/DC frontman Axl Rose has now stepped into the fray.

Over the weekend he sent out the following tweet, effectively reminding us that "Dog's Lives Matter": As you can see, the tweet is in reaction to NYPD police officer Ruben Cuesta shooting and killing a pit bull that approached him in a Bronx apartment building earlier this year. The dog was a four-year-old pit bull named Spike, who approached the officer wagging his tail.

The incident was all captured on surveillance camera. At the bottom of the page, you can watch the footage, but be warned, it is disturbing.

As the New York Daily News reports, the Civilian Complaint Review Board recently substantiated charges against the police officer for the shooting. Along with substantiating abuse of authority complaints, the CCRB recommended that Cuesta be retrained. The NYPD will take the agency's findings into consideration when it reviews the case.

At this point, Cuesta remains on active duty, while a lawsuit has been filed by the dog's owner, Yvonne Rosado.
