Chilled-out electronic duo Mesa Luna have launched their very own collective called nbd label, and it's through this new venture that they have released the new single from fellow Vancouver twosome Avid Walker. The song is called "Conversations," and Exclaim! has the premiere.
An announcement explains that Avid Walker consists of Brendan Bleker and Jared Langerud. Their background is in noisy, experimental music, but this new project finds them experimenting with a more conventional pop sound. "Conversations" blends the adventurous with the pop-friendly, as summery guitar grooves and plaintive melodies are doused in wobbly, atmospheric effects.
The band said in a statement about the tune, "'Conversations' was inspired by the sense of isolation and frustration that comes from feeling unable to adequately convey yourself using words. Sometimes you'll try but fail disastrously, which can shake your confidence. But then you can go home and write a song about it and that feels great."
