Avalon Emerson has shared details of her debut album. The American producer and DJ will share Avalon Emerson & the Charm on April 28 via her Another Dove label.
Emerson's first full-length — which follows 2020's 040 EP and DJ-Kicks mix — was created during an extended break touring as a DJ. & the Charm finds her not only opening up her creative process to collaboration, but also bringing herself and her voice to the fore.
& the Charm was executive produced by Bullion, who worked with Emerson to foster a space in which she could "intimately reflect on the people and places she's loved and left behind."
Following the previously share "Sandrail Silhouette" is "Hot Evening," both of which you can hear in the players below.
In a statement, Emerson shares that "Hot Evening" previously "hovered around 75% done for over a year," taking its sonic inspiration from "somewhere between Todd Edwards, the Magnetic Fields and the Chordettes."
She adds of the track: "'Hot Evening' is a stamped passport. It's a series of diary entries, home movies and polaroids. It's the moment of calm when 200 adults all partake in group snack time and nap time at 35,000 feet. It's seeing the same sun set over a new city skyline. It's wondering if I've spent my youth on too many proverbial and literal moving sidewalks, going forward sure, but to where? And will there just be another long terminal to cross when I arrive?"
