Published May 27, 2011While there's still no release date set for the Avalanches' follow-up to Since I Left You, which came out well over a decade ago, the Australian sound collage artists' label has gone on record to say that the group may be closer than ever to issuing their long-awaited sophomore set.
Modular Records founder Steve "Pav" Pavlovic claims that the group have finished the basic tracks for the album, and he hopes to have it released by early 2012, with a single dropping later this year.
"They're finished, and they're celebrating. The next stage will see the album go to someone to mix," he told the Music Network, adding that they also need to do "some tweaking to the production elements."
However, there is no word yet on whether the Avalanches collaboration with lo-fi pop wizard Ariel Pink made the cut or not.
Considering how long it's been, we'll take this news with a grain of salt, but here's hoping the wait for new Avalanches material is finally almost over.
