Manimal's Duran Duran covers album Making Patterns Rhyme: A Tribute to Duran Duran was initially supposed to come out this past winter, and although it's been delayed a couple of times, there's a silver lining for fans, since Austra have been added to the tracklist. Now, their version of "American Science" has emerged.
Austra's take on the cut from 1986's Notorious is more starkly dramatic than the original, since they strip down the groove to leave drum machine rustles, sonorous vocals and pillowy synth tones. There are some glitchy passages, but this is mostly very minimal and low key.
Making Patterns Rhyme will be out on August 12.
