Austin's Levitation Fest Gets Brian Wilson Playing 'Pet Sounds' in Full, Plus Animal Collective, Flying Lotus, Sleep

Austin Psych Fest's Levitation event is once again returning next year, and as such, the festival has rolled out its initial 2016 lineup. As expected, it features a star-studded selection of psych-inclined pop, rock and electronic music.

The even will run from April 29 to May 1 at Austin's Carson Creek Ranch, and one of the biggest draws will be Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson, who will be playing the iconic 1966 album Pet Sounds in full with the help of fellow Beach Boy Al Jardine. He's performed the album before — he even did a Pet Sounds tour shortly after the turn of the millennium, and released the concert album Brian Wilson Presents Pet Sounds Live in 2002 — but now there's doubtless been a resurgence in interest in the LP thanks to this year's Love & Mercy biopic.

Other performers include Animal Collective, Flying Lotus, Black Mountain, Ty Segall, the Brian Jonestown Massacre, Sleep, Lee Scratch Perry and Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats. More acts will be announced in due course.

Levitation spread to Vancouver in 2015. It's expected to return to the city in 2016, but details have yet to be confirmed.
