Atreyu have concluded their three-part EP series with the announcement of their ninth studio album, The Beautiful Dark of Life, arriving on December 8 via Spinefarm.
The upcoming LP serves as the final instalment of Atreyu's "Seasons of Life" concept series, and will include tracks from the previous three EPs in the series — The Hope of a Spark, The Moment You Find Your Flame and A Torch in the Dark — as well as three new songs: "Dancing with My Demons," "Insomnia," and the title track.
Where The Hope of a Spark encapsulates the feeling of hitting rock bottom, The Moment You Find Your Flame depicts a "glimmer of hope," and A Torch in the Dark represents finding oneself and one's purpose, The Beautiful Dark of Life is an all-encompassing story of the phases of life.
"It is the journey we have taken the audience on through the three EPs: the highs, lows and lessons of life. And much like living through them, you don't gain a full understanding of what it all means without the whole picture. This album is that picture," said bandleader Brandon Saller in a press statement.
The Beautiful Dark of Life is also meant to serve as an overarching representation of everything the band has learned during their time together and through life.
"These songs are the culmination of our entire artistic endeavours. It's everything we've learned as humans, everything we've ingested as musicians and everything we've experienced in this lifetime. It is Atreyu unleashed," said bassist and vocalist Porter McKnight.
