Asobi Seksu Announce North American Tour, New Album in 2009

New York’s dream-poppin’ shoegazers Asobi Seksu have dropped word they will be doing their live thing coast-to-coast next month, hitting up Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal as well as several U.S. cities. The tour will mark the duo’s first North American tour in more than a year and, more importantly, will likely be the first time fans can get a taste of what Asobi Seksu have been cooking up for their forthcoming third album.

That yet-to-be-titled record follows up 2006’s widely applauded Citrus and is expected sometime in early 2009, according to the band’s new North American home, Polyvinyl. And while the details on the new record are scarce, we do know that on November 18 Asobi Seksu are releasing the album’s first single "Me & Mary,” which like the full-length is produced by Chris Zane (Les Savy Fav, Walkmen, Asobi Seksu’s Citrus). But sadly, that’s all we can really tell you at this point.

For now you’ll just have to be satisfied with Asobi Seksu’s upcoming tour dates:
