Published May 16, 2014As I Lay Dying singer Tim Lambesis was handed a six-year prison sentence in court today (May 16) over the attempted murder plot on his wife Meggan Lambesis.
The verdict was delivered by Judge Carlos Armour in a San Diego Superior Courtroom earlier today, following prior delays in sentencing hearings. Back in February, Lambesis had plead guilty to a felony charge of soliciting the murder of his wife in 2013. The vocalist had tried to hire an undercover cop posing as a hitman.
Lambesis' sentence will give him six years in prison, with 48 days credit for time served. On top of this, Meggan and the pair's three adopted children are being given 10 years protection via a restraining order. Lambesis' As I Lay Dying bandmates were in the courtroom when the verdict was read, which was preceded by statements from Meggan Lambesis and other family members. Meggan had said that her husband had texted her regarding the social security information of their children, and believed that the musician had been fantasizing about her murder for some time.
The rest of the group, meanwhile, have shifted their musical focus to new outfit Wovenwar, who have plans to issue their debut LP later this year through Metal Blade. So far, the band have teased the summer release with their "All Rise" single.
